How long does a hair system last?
With normal use and proper maintenance, a hair system usually lasts between 5 and 7 months. But there are two timescales: how long the hair system lasts, and how often it needs refitting, which is every 7–14 days depending on the base.
Is there a hair system that lasts a lifetime?
No. No hair system lasts a lifetime: with use, the base and the hair wear out, and there comes a point when it has to be replaced with a new one. What you can do is make it last longer with good care and timely maintenance.

How often it needs refitting

How long do glue and tape last?
Glue usually lasts about 14 days and tape about 8 days. They lose their grip long before the hair system wears out, which is why they’re renewed at every maintenance session. Skin oil, sweat and sport can shorten this a little.
Signs it’s time for a check
- The edges lift or it feels less secure.
- The hair looks thinner, coarser or less shiny.
- The base looks worn or torn in places.
