Is a hair system noticeable?

Whether a hair system is noticeable or goes unnoticed depends on four things: the type of base, the hairline, how well the colour and density match your hair, and good fitting and maintenance.

What makes a hair system noticeable

  • A hairline that’s too straight or too dense.
  • A colour or density that doesn’t match your hair.
  • A thick base in areas that are on show.
  • An old attachment: lifting edges or shine.
  • A cut that isn’t blended with your own hair.

What makes it go unnoticed

  • Choosing the right base for each area: for example, fine lace at the front.
  • Matching the colour, density and direction of the hair to yours.
  • Fitting it properly and cutting it together with your own hair.
  • Doing maintenance on time, before the attachment fails.

All of this is decided in the consultation and at the fitting. We do it at Crinova Hair Center Barcelona, at the centre or at your home.

Do undetectable or invisible hair systems exist?

They’re often advertised that way, but nobody can promise a hair system will be undetectable in every situation: up close, when touching the edge or with an old bond, it can show. What you can achieve is for it to go unnoticed day to day, with the right base at the hairline, your hair’s colour and density, a good fitting and maintenance on time.

Can you tell by touch?

It depends on the base and the area. Where you’re most likely to feel it is at the edge, if the attachment is old: that’s why it’s renewed every 7–14 days, depending on the base.

Does it show in the wind, at the pool or when you do sport?

If it’s well fitted and the maintenance is up to date, no: you can shower, do sport, go to the pool or the beach and sleep with it on.

Downsides of wearing a hair system

Not being noticeable doesn’t mean it has no drawbacks: you need to have maintenance done every 7–14 days, look after it at home and replace it every 5–7 months. We tell you everything in the downsides of hair systems.

Frequently asked questions

Which base is least noticeable?

At the hairline, a fine lace base, which looks the most natural. A skin base is easier to clean and the bond holds well. Many hair systems combine both: lace at the front and skin on the sides.

Does it become more noticeable over time?

If you skip maintenance, yes: the bond loosens and the base builds up oil. And at the end of its life, after 5-7 months, the hair is thinner and worn: that’s when to replace it.
